Time and time again, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 continues to be a high-performer, whether it be through performance, safety or interior features. That said, our dealers at Star Mazda recognize there are other crossovers out there that could be considered competition.
Another crossover that is nearly just as distinctive as the Mazda CX-5 is the 2020 Hyundai Tuscon, and is intended for wide curb appeal. However, the difference is in how each vehicle delivers on its promises.
The base model of the Hyundai Tuscon is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that is rather sluggish, rated at around 161 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. While you can opt for a bigger engine, it still doesn’t do enough to haul a vehicle as large as the Hyundai Tuscon.
Alternatively, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 has no trouble pulling its own weight. While the base engine is a comparable 187 horsepower 2.5-liter inline-four, it is far from the end for this sleek crossover. Step up to the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and you’ll get 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque to play with.
The 2020 Hyundai Tuscon is a margin larger than the Mazda CX-5, however only a cubic foot separates their cargo spacing, with the Mazda having 60 cubic feet and the Hyundai having 61.9 cubic feet. And when it comes to technology the Mazda CX-5 is a little more fleshed out, as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and blind-spot monitors are all made standard no matter what model you choose.
So, yes, the Hyundai Tuscon is a decent crossover, but it is nothing compared to the Mazda CX-5. When you visit our Mazda dealership at Star Mazda, you’ll find this incredible crossover, and many other vehicles just waiting to be experienced first-hand.
